Programming with Code Search 1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled. Press and hold Code Search button until the red indicator stays on.

Posted on Jun 13, 2010. Which GE universal remote do you have? Does the remote use a 3-digit or a 4-digit code?
To program most GE remotes for a TV, turn on the TV. Then press and hold the Code Search or Setup button until the indicator light comes on.
Then press and release the TV button. Enter the first code available for your device. The indicator light should go off then check if the remote controls the functions of the TV. Repeat the above steps if the code doesn't work or doesn't control all the features of your TV.
